On Friday September 12, 2025, 400-level students from the Department of Forest Resource and Wildlife Management from the University of Benin, Benin City, were in Rubber Estates Nigeria Limited (RENL) Osse River site on an educational tour. Led by the Department Head Dr. Osadolor Nosayaba, the students visited the nursery where they were taken through the stages of growing rubber trees, from seed sowing to extraction.

While welcoming the students, Canaan Emonena, RENL Land Use Manager, noted that RENL is a major player in Nigeria's rubber sector. He mentioned that RENL operates in four Nigerian states: Edo, Delta, Ogun, and Ondo and has a proven integrity in Rubber plantation development and exploitation.

The students were taken on a guided tour, where they learned about nursery development fundamentals, seed sowing, budding processes and extraction. During the field visit, they also gained insight into rubber plantation development, benefits of rubber trees, uses of latex, rubber origin, and economic lifespan.

Dr. Osadolor Nosayaba stated that the excursion was an important part of the students' school calendar, specifically for the course on silvicultural technique and plantation management. She explained that the field practical training aimed to expose students to the principles of planting rubber trees and advised students to make good use of the learning opportunity.

Speaking on behalf of the students, Godwin Ogbisi thanked RENL management for the warm reception and learning opportunity. He affirmed that the visit provided practical knowledge to them thereby complementing their studies and promised to use the knowledge judiciously.
