Rubber Estates Nigeria Limited (RENL) on Thursday, August 13, 2026, brought employees across its operations together for the 2026 Health, Safety, Environment and Ethics (HSE/Ethics) Day, with activities held simultaneously across its major sites in Araromi, Osse River, Utagba-Uno, Adeola, Waterside and Urhonigbe.
With the theme “Safety First, Integrity Always,” this year’s celebration provided a unified platform for employees across different locations to reflect on two values central to RENL’s operations: protecting lives and doing what is right, even when no one is watching.
Delivering the key message for the celebration, RENL’s Managing Director, Olivier Odoukou, challenged employees to make safety and integrity personal responsibilities rather than simply corporate requirements.
He emphasized that every employee has a role to play in preventing accidents, protecting colleagues and safeguarding the communities where RENL operates. According to him, no task is so urgent that it cannot be performed safely, and no production target should come at the expense of human life.
The Managing Director also drew attention to the responsibility of employees towards dependents and families living within RENL’s operational environments, urging staff to extend safety consciousness beyond the workplace and consider the impact of their actions on surrounding communities.
On integrity, Odoukou encouraged employees to demonstrate honesty, accountability and responsible decision-making in their daily activities. He stressed the importance of speaking up when unsafe practices, unethical conduct or behaviors that could compromise the company’s values are observed.
The programme across the sites was further enriched by presentations and interactive sessions focusing on gender equality, inclusion and respect, reinforcing the importance of creating a workplace where everyone is treated fairly and given the opportunity to contribute.
The simultaneous celebrations underscored RENL’s collective commitment to building one safety and integrity culture across all its operations, regardless of location, Safety First, Integrity Always.
