Rubber Estates Nigeria Limited commemorates world tuberculosis day with awareness and sensitization campaign
In commemoration of the World Tuberculosis Day, the management of Rubber Estates Nigeria Limited organized a 3-day sensitization exercise to raise awareness about the world's deadliest infectious killer, Tuberculosis and its devasting health, social, and economic impact on people around the world.
The exercise which took place from Monday, 24th of March to Wednesday, 26th of March in Osse River Site saw the attendance of the staff, the women, and children across all camps in the site who were sensitized by the medical staff of Osse River clinic about the causes, symptoms, prevention, and treatment of Tuberculosis. The exercise also featured a free medical tuberculosis test which was conducted by the medical staff for all the attendees.
Speaking on his part, the Medical Doctor of Osse River Clinic, Adegoke Dawodu emphasized the importance of awareness and early detection in the fight against Tuberculosis. He noted that Tuberculosis is usually accompanied by symptoms such as persistent cough lasting more than two weeks, chest pain, fever, coughing up blood, and unexplained weight loss. She encouraged all the attendees to take note of the symptoms and also visit the clinic for proper examination and diagnosis if they notice any of the signs.
In a positive and encouraging note, the Doctor also proudly declared that as of 2025, Rubber Estates Nigeria Limited has been declared free from active Tuberculosis cases across all its sites of operations.
Participants thanked RENL Management and medical team for organizing such awareness program as it has significantly raised awareness about tuberculosis and its impact.
